Invitation to the 2nd historic Asian American and Pacific Islander Christian leaders for a White House Briefing by the White House and the 8th National Lighting the Community Summit Washington D.C. that is hosted by KCCD. The event will be held from May 18, 2015 to May 20, 2015 at Hilton Garden Inn DC-CapitolHill, 1225 First Street NE, Washington, D.C. Last year, over 180 AAPI Christian leaders from churches, businesses, academia, entertainment and other networks representing over 5 million constituents participated in the event. I hope that you can join this great opportunity.
Below is a short description and link to videos of last year’year’s highlight( about 7 minutes) and a short interview with couple of the Young Ambassadors.
The Summit’s theme is “Shining Our Light – Building Our Leadership and Future Together.” The goals of the conference are witness, partnership, and advocacy. As Asian American and Pacific Islander Christians, our voice is absent in the public sphere and in turn, the needs of our community and opportunity for leadership and contribution are often overlooked. The Summit will provide opportunities for churches, nonprofit organizations and business leaders to raise our visibility, learn how to leverage resources, access funding opportunities available through government, corporations and foundations, and increase our impact and witness through successful partnerships. Although leadership exists in our community, we are not known because we have seldom been given the platform for visibility. This conference will be one vehicle where we can mobilize, unite and strengthen our voice and presence especially through the White House Briefing. The conference consists of plenary sessions, workshops, National AAPI Prayer Breakfast, Awards Gala, Congressional Visits and White House Briefing.
