International Day of Prayer for Peace

International Day of Prayer for Peace (September 21, 2012): The World Council of Churches calls on the churches and congregations around the world to observe an International Day of Prayer for Peace. The day coincides with the International Day of Peace initiated by the United Nations. The participants are especially invited to pray and act together for a just peace in communities, nations and the world.  Praying for Ceasefire is the theme adopted this year by On Earth Peace, a United States-based agency rooted in the Church of the Brethren. “For some people, praying for ceasefire will mean praying for a break in armed conflict. For others, a ceasefire will mean ending conflict in their community, workplace, church or family.”  Go to:
