National Council of Churches begins search for top executive leadership position
Washington, June 5, 2013 – The National Council of Churches is seeking candidates for General Secretary/President, the top staff leadership position in the 63-year-old ecumenical organization.
The newly designated position, formerly general secretary, has emerged from a year-long transitional process conducted by the NCC Governing Board under the leadership of President Kathryn Lohre and Transitional General Secretary Peg Birk.
Under the new configuration, the president of the NCC will become chair of the Governing Board.

The General Secretary/President serves as the executive leader of the NCC, with overall responsibility for personnel, deploying resources to achieve the priorities of the NCC, organizational and board development, fund-raising, vision-setting, long-range planning, financial management, external relationships and thought leadership.
