On Earth Peace invites to pray and act for peace on Peace Day

On Earth Peace invites you to pray and act for peace on Peace Day, September 21, 2013.

The 2013 Peace Day theme is “Who Will You Make Peace With?”  Jesus gives us peace: “My peace I leave with you. . .” (John 14).  Asked how many times to forgive, he responds, “Not seven times, but seventy-seven times” (Matthew 18).  Jesus himself broke down the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2). How can we all live into his peace?

September 21 can be a time to build community, equip people for nonviolence, pray together, and deepen relationships. On Earth Peace prays that each year, each Peace Day community will use September 21 as a time to reach for new levels of ability to make peace and challenge violence.

In 2013, On Earth Peace is working with the Fellowship of Reconciliation and the United Church of Christ’s Office of Justice and Witness Ministries to spread the word and invite congregations and community groups around the world to act for peace on September 21.

Make this September 21 a time for your community to receive the peace of Christ, to build reconciliation, and to prepare for active peacemaking all year long.
