World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

Thursday, September 1 is the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, an observance started by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, recently adopted by the Roman Catholic Church, and growing in popularity among other Christian communities.

In honor of the World Day of Prayer this Thursday, I invite you to join a teleconference with two of Creation Justice Ministries’ Orthodox Christian board members who will share Orthodox history, theology, and prayers with us. Space is limited.

Sign up here for the call, which will take place Thursday at 8:30pm ET / 5:30pm PT.

I also invite you to visit our website to find tools to observe this day of prayer and to celebrate the entire Season of Creation, which runs from September 1 through October 4 (the date many Christians observe the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.) Keep in mind that Creation Justice Ministries’ 2016 Earth Day Sunday Resource Care for God’s Creatures could be useful during this season, too.

If you are on social media, please spread the word on Facebook and Twitter. Thursday, check #CareofCreation and #SeasonofCreation to see photos and videos of prayers from across the globe.
