In 2013 Christian Churches Together convened leaders of over two dozen church communions and Christian organizations to learn about immigration, pray, and discern God’s call on our lives to respond to an unjust immigration system. In a statement that came out of that convocation, the leaders called upon people of faith and elected officials to work together to enact just and humane immigration reform consistent with the following principles and policies:

• A pathway to citizenship

• Family reunification

• Just enforcement practices and due process protections for immigrants

• Special protection for refugees and asylum-seekers

• The need for examination of the root causes of migration into the U.S.
